How do you get a jammed axle out of the transmission?
Q. I have a 2000 eclipse . I installed a new front driverside axle and it turned out to be the wrong one. Now I think its jammed on the safety ring at the end of the axle thats goes into the transmission. Now I can get it out. What do I do?

A. the best way i found to remove a jammed axle was to put a long pry bar between the end of the axle and the trans. body and pry towards the opposite side of the car. tap the end of the axle while you are prying it out with a hammer or hard rubber mallet. just becareful not to hit it really hard you don't want to damage anything inside the trans. it should pop out. if ti's on a lift becareful it doesn't fall on your feet, it's best if you have someone holding the other end or at least support it with a coat hanger. good luck.

How to safely remove a jammed adapter ring?
Q. I have a Canon Rebel XTI with the EF-S 18-55 mm lens it came with. Late last year, I purchased a wide angle/fish eye lens with an adapter ring to go on the lens that the camera came with, but after using it a few times, the lens adapter became jammed onto the 18-55 mm lens and I cannot remove it. Any suggestions to carefully remove the adapter ring as to not harm the lens? I really don't want to splurge $115 ( at the cheapest ) for a new 18-55 mm. Thank you for your time.

A. Take it to Ritz or Wolf or any other good camera store (not Best Buy or Walmart) and see if they can get it off for you. They might charge you to do it, but it shouldn't be very much. They have wrenches that can be used on lenses.

How long does it take for a jammed finger to heal?

What is the best solution for a jammed finger?
Q. I play basketball a lot and I jammed my finger about 3 years ago. I thought it would heal itself but it is still swoll in the middle. I pull it all the time but it doesn't do anything. Should I splint it because I'm still actively playing and I dont feel like playing with a slint on my finger. Is there any other solution?
Asked by COOKIE MONSTER XD - Mon Feb 27 16:45:08 2006 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments
A. The only way to have it heal completely is to rest it, but that won't happen yet since you're active. To protect your finger, tape it up when you're playing. I think a split would hinder your play. When you're not playing, keep it splinted. You can take anti-inflammatory medicines like Advil. You could also ice your finger to prevent further swelling. This therapy is better than none.

What percentage of skilled position football players suffer from jammed or broken fingers?

I played football and coached the game for many years and in my experience, I would guess some 70 to 80 percent of players suffer from some degree of jammed fingers. I have hard water, and my water heater keeps getting "jammed" with lime. Any alternatives to water softeners?
Q. Our town has very hard water and every time they do work on the main, my water heater impeller gets jammed with lime chunks. My repairman has recommended Culligan, but I was wondering if there are any less costly alternatives out there.

A. I had a problem with sediment clogging my mixing valve. Got a Culligan HF-360 Whole House Water Filter System at Ace for about $45.00. I needed to change the filters every so often but it was cheaper and easier than replacing the mixing valves. You can buy cheaper ones but this has a shut off valve and pressure release which makes changing the filters real easy. I hang the wrench next to the filter along with a new gasket and a spare filter. It will not remove lime in solution but any pieces of lime it will remove. Good Luck!

How do I open a jammed tailgate in my truck?
Q. Hey everyone. I have a 2003 silverado and somehow my tailgate is jammed and does not open when I pull the release. Has anyone encountered this before? Is there anything I can do without having to pay $95 to the dealer just to look at it? Please give me some ideas, thanks.
Asked by tweek_8 - Mon Oct 1 16:10:29 2007 - - 5 Answers - 1 Comments
A. Don't hit it or kick it or push it or pull it...this is an easy one! When you pull up on your handle, these two arms on the handle in turn push two levers, one lever will pull on the right side rod and the other lever will pull on the left rod. After time these levers start to get bent out of shape from use. Eventually, when you pull up on your handle to open your tailgate usually one of the levers is so bent that is doesn't fully pull the rod enough to release the latch. One side might release but not the other. So here's what you do---lift up on the handle about halfways and look up under there. You can see where the two rods (the ends are in an 'L' shape) are inserted into plastic nuts. You can now see when you lift up the handle… [cont.]

How do I get through a door with a jammed knob?
Q. I went to turn the basement door handle the other day and while the actual knob turned, the door did not open. Turns out, it was jammed. All of our tools are in the basement and the only other ways in are locked with long gone keys. We unscrewed the doorknob exposing the inner mechanism but we still can't figure out how to get it un-jammed.

How to tell if your finger is broken or just jammed?
Q. I think my finger may be broken, but how do i tell if its just jammed or broken?
Asked by Taylor B - Sun Jan 4 18:44:12 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. If it is swollen and deformed all around then chances are, it's broken. If a finger is jammed, then it is only around the joint so if your joint is purple and bruised then most likely it is jammed if the rest of your finger isn't affected. If you don't want to see a doctor right away, i suggest you wrap your finger in a medical wrap (you canget from walgreens) and don't move it too much. Put ice on for the first 24 hours and tomorrow if it is just as bad or worse, then you can assume that it's broken and you'll have to get a splint. Don't worry about it it'll be better in no time. =]

How can I open the jammed head of my colour cartridge to get it refilled?
Q. I understand there are three holes in the colour cartridge from where the inks flow and one of the holes of my colour cartridge is jammed and the ink does not flow from it. I want to get it refilled. Could you advise me what should I do to open the third hole of the cartridge?
Asked by Paresh P - Sat Aug 25 23:20:38 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Rub the print head gently with a tisse dampened with rubbing alcohol. Many refil kits include a "cleaning solution" bottle with their ink. That cleaning solution is just rubbing alcohol. Depending on the depth of the clog, you may have to soak the print head in the solution for a few minutes. Try the above and then run the cartridge through the head cleaning on the printer. A few turns at each item should open it up.

How do you deal with jammed fingers?
Q. While I was sparring yesterday I didn't close my thumb tight enough so it sticked out like a thumbs up and got jammed when it got hit by a roundhouse, yes it's really bad. Any quick remedies u know because I only have 13 more days until I perform solo guitar in front of a very big audience!

A. HI, Hum...well..no real "quick" so to speak advise. I'd suggest soaking it in warm Epsom's salts..nearly hot...as warm as you can stand for 15-20 minutes. Then I would soak it in ice water for as long as you can stand...maybe 10 minutes or just really cool water. You could also wrap it in ace bandage and apply and ice pack when your watching TV in the evening. With "Jams" it usually has to kind of "work itself out." Also if you're not allergic Advil works really well and it's an anti-inflammatory. (I take two of them) Or Motrin', ibuprofen...it's all about the same but I swear by Advil. Good luck on your next "jam" session. (Sorry, bad joke I know..hang in there dude. Eileen

How do I fix a paper jam when there are no papers jammed in the printer?
Q. I have a Dell All-In-One 924 Printer. It displays a error message: "Clear paper jam. Press > (Start) botton to continue." The problem is that there are no papers jammed in the printer and pressing the > (Start) botton changed nothing. The error message is still there. What should I do?
Asked by E Sir - Tue Aug 29 23:21:27 2006 - - 12 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Best thing to do is take the toner out, sometimes the paper can be stuck under there, also although you can not see the paper jam look very closely where the ink goes and see if its there. After that unplug the power from the back on the printer (do not just turn the printer off, you have to take the power cord out) after its out for about 60 secs, plug the printer back in and see if the paper jam has been cleared. -Reggie

Q. I have a Dell All-In-One 924 Printer. It displays a error message: "Clear paper jam. Press > (Start) botton to continue." The problem is that there are no papers jammed in the printer and pressing the > (Start) botton changed nothing. The error message is still there. What should I do?

-Reggie

How do I set up my printer when it keeps saying paper is jammed when there is no paper at all?
Q. I've just brought a new printer Epson TX550W. When I inserted the ink and moved on the the next step, the command said 'Paper Jammed', But there is no paper at all. Any help?

A. I faced the same problems days ago, there is definitely a small piece of paper that is stuck here or there, remove the toner cartridge and see if there is paper there, plus open the rear of the printer to see if there is something there as well. Turn off/on the printer and restart your computer. If that didn't work, uninstall the printer driver and re-install it again. Wish that would work for you.
