Q. Nothing comes up on screen past BIOS option. Please help! Just need to know if I can fix without losing all info on hard drive. There is no safe mode option at start up. Asked emachines and they wouldn't help me without paying for it.

A. Computer off, and unplugged. Press the Power On button in, and hold it in for a count of five seconds. Let go. Do this two more times. Plug the computer back into the surge protector. Let it set for a minute. Turn it on. This should set the BIOS Setup parameters back to default. Default is the factory settings. If your computer has a VGA port, in the I/O area for a monitor, plug the monitor in there. (I/O=Input/Output The I/O area is where devices like the mouse, keyboard, etc., plug in) No graphics card has been added, this should do it. BUT, if you added a graphics card to your computer, and have the monitor plugged into the card, PLUS your computer has Integrated Graphics, (The VGA port in the I/O area thing), you need to remove… [cont.]
